Mind-Body therapy/counseling, or holistic psychotherapy, draws upon a variety of techniques that aim to heal problematic moods and behaviors at the root cause. Regardless of the issue, each person is diverse and unique with a wide range of influences and experiences. Holistic therapy begins by accessing each person’s deepest wisdom, through applied kinesiology (muscle testing), to determine which factors are causing interference (i.e. trauma, phobias, personality characteristics, etc.) to accomplishing a particular goal (i.e. improve self-esteem, be in a healthy relationship, have a successful career, etc.). Once the interference is identified, the body and the deepest wisdom will indicate which technique is best to clear or heal it. Progress towards accomplishing the goal is measured after each interference pattern is removed. More importantly, the client will begin to notice positive changes during and after each session as s/he eliminates the patterns that were creating blocks to the personal goal.
Mind-body techniques are effective in treating trauma, anxiety, phobias, depression, low self-esteem, and a variety of issues contributing to relationship discord. Holistic therapy is ideal for those who would like to try an alternative to talking about their problems and for those seeking lasting change. Several people interested in mind-body counseling have tried traditional forms of psychotherapy (talk therapy) and have not met their goals. Some indicators that mind-body techniques might be effective include a general feeling of being “stuck” in life, hitting a plateau in self-growth, frustration with relationships, or other recurring patterns that promote negative feelings.
